Dating a gay millionaire - finding a wealthy gay partner on the internet

There are quite a few millionaire dating sites on the internet. Most seem to be focussed on playing cupid between millionaires looking for 'sugar babies', girls and women looking for a wealthy man to take care of them and provide favors in return. Some of these are more like glorified escort services. While there aren't many web sites that will help you locate gay millionaires, here's a brief guide to how you can locate them on the internet with the help of specialized gay dating websites and general dating web sites.

When we refer to millionaires we don't mean John next door who saw the value of his house go past a million in the real estate frenzy. We mean real millionaires in the spirit of the term - multimillionaires really.

Just how many gay millionaires do we have anyway?

Let's calculate, how many gay millionaires are in the United States. As per the 2007 World Wealth Report released by Merrill Lynch, excerpts of which were published in the Wall Street Journal on June 27, 2007, there were 9.5 million people worldwide who qualified as millionaires. This means they owned US $ 1 million in assets excluding their primary residences. Their homes were not counted for this purpose. North America had a total of 3.2 million people who qualified as millionaires. With a population of 301 million people, this means, about 1% of the population comprises of millionaires. This may seem like a small percentage but if you live in a city, the percentage in probably higher. In New York it's much higher and in the Bay Area, you'll see millionaires all around you.

So, there are 3.2 million millionaires.

Now, how many are gay? In November 2006 Gary Gates, senior research fellow at the Williams Institute on Sexual Orientation Law and Public Policy at the University of California, Los Angeles did a survey and estimated the United States gay population to be 8.8 million. This figures includes gays, lesbians and bisexuals. Here's a report in The Seattle Times about this.

If we assume that half of this estimated population is male, that gives us a figure of 4.4 million. Now here's the percentage of gays estimated by region, as per the survey:

San Francisco -- 15.4 percent

Seattle -- 12.9 percent

Atlanta -- 12.8 percent

Minneapolis -- 12.5 percent

Boston -- 12.3 percent

Oakland, Calif. -- 12.1 percent

Sacramento, Calif. -- 9.8 percent

Portland -- 8.8 percent

Denver -- 8.2 percent

Long Beach, Calif. -- 8.1 percent

Many gays and lesbians do not come out in the open about their sexual preferences for fear of discrimination. Atlanta has a very large lesbian population and not everyone wants to stand up and be counted.

If 15.4 % of the gay population is in San Francisco, there's a higher probability of their being financially strong, millionaires or even multimillionaires. Parts of San Francisco are very expensive.

Now to our objective of locating gay millionaires online.

There is a very good reason not to go via millionaire dating web sites to snare a millionaire. When you go this route, you make it too obvious that you're looking for someone very wealthy and come across as a gold-digger. This defeats the very purpose because multimillionaires are generally wary of gold diggers and you'll only scare them away. Some of them may only be looking for a toy-boy and if you're looking for such an arrangement, go for it. If you're looking for a serious stable relationship with a wealthy person who shares your sexual preferences, go for general dating web sites. This holds true, irrespective of sexual preferences or even gender.

Besides, if you want to limit yourself to millionaires, you can always search for people having income about a certain threshold even with general dating web sites. All these web sites have a power search or advanced search features wherein you can locate people who have a certain minimum income. You can also block others who don't interest you. All of them have chat and forums. These web sites give you anonymity and if you're shy about approaching prospective dating partners, this can be a big help.
