Can You Impregnate a Woman Safely if You Have Herpes?

Herpes is a sexually transmitted disease, and as such, it is highly contagious during sexual intercourse. It is essential that your partner be aware of your condition before intercourse. However, you can have safe sex depending on the area where herpes is located, and even safer if you avoid having sex during herpes outbreaks. Keep in mind that fluid-filled blisters are highly contagious, and even apparently dry crusts can be infectious as well, so any skin or mucous contact would likely result in passing on the disease to your partner. There are also suppressive drugs which can be prescribed and used daily to have safer sex. However, the use of condoms, daily suppressive therapy, and avoiding skin contact with the infected area during outbreaks can reduce the risk to spread the disease to almost zero, but does not mean your partner will be entirely safe from contracting it.
