Can Herpes Be Transmitted Through Blood?

Herpes is transmitted through skin to skin contact. When a herpes sore comes in contact with a wound in the skin or mucous membranes of another person herpes is transmitted. The wound could be microscopic. Herpes can also be transmitted when there are no visible symptoms but the skin on the location of the initial infection appears is shedding the virus.The herpes virus does not infect blood. People with herpes infections are still allowed to donate blood.
