HPV Symptoms in Women

HPV is a sexually transmitted disease that gets its name from the virus that causes it, the human papillomavirus.  There are more than 100 different types of HPV and a variety of conditions that they can cause. The infection is spread through skin-to-skin contact which may involve sexual intercourse or simply intimate contact. As yet there is no cure for HPV and among women HPV treatment focuses on the treatment of warts, both genital and non-genital that the infection may cause and treatment of the changes in cells of the cervix that the virus can cause.
