Should You Test Yourself for Chlamydia if You Are Pregnant?

Chlamydia is very easy to treat if diagnosed early. The usual treatment is an antibiotics run and painkillers. It is very important that a pregnant woman get tested if she thinks there is a possibility she is infected with Chlamydia because she can passed on the disease to her child during childbirth, probably causing pneumonia or eye infections to the baby. Antibiotics like amoxicillin or erythromycin are commonly prescribed during pregnancy or lactating periods. After the treatment it is advisable to wait a week before having sex again. The side effects of treatment are usually mild, including stomach pain, some diarrhea and general uneasy feeling.
