Can a Blood Test Detect Chlamydia?

Chlamydia is not a blood borne disease so no blood test will tell if you have Chlamydia at the moment the test is done; all the blood test will tell you is if you had Chlamydia in the past. This is so because the blood test will look for antibodies created by the organism when responding to an infection or a disease, so if the blood test gives a positive it would be a false-positive without any certainty that you are actually sick right now. This is why this type of test should not be used to diagnose Chlamydia.
