Can a Urine Test Detect Chlamydia?

The urine test is the right way to test for Chlamydia. The blood test will check for the existence of antibodies in the blood which is not a definite sign of the presence of the bacteria in the system. The urine test, on the other hand, will look for DNA from the bacteria present in the urine, highlighting the presence of live pathogen, minimizing this way the likelihood of a false positive. Another good way to detect Chlamydia is by performing a swab culture from endocervical, vaginal or rectal tissues. This last method is very common with female patients.
