First of all it is important to note that a large portion of the population that is infected with gonorrhea never develop symptoms despite being contagious to other people. Symptoms will typically appear within 14 days of the original exposure to the infection. In men the first and most prevalent symptom is a painful burning sensation during urination. As the infection progresses men may experience an increased frequency of urination, pus like discharge from urethra, painful swelling of the testicles and a persistent sore throat.
