What Are the Symptoms of Gonorrhea in Throat?

Oral gonorrhea, also known as pharyngeal gonorrhea, is an infection of the mouth with the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Pharyngeal gonorrhea is transmitted when direct contact occurs between the mouth of a person and the genital discharge typically associated with gonorrhea infections. The infection then establishes itself in the throat where it can be asymptomatic or cause symptoms similar to those of a sore throat.The affected throat closely resembles that of someone with a strep throat with redness and white or yellow discharge. In general symptoms of gonorrhea infection of the throat are very mild or not present at all and are different from those of genital gonorrhea.
