What Is the Incubation Period for Gonorrhea?

Because so many people who have become infected with the gonorrhea bacterium it is difficult to accurately pinpoint the exact moment of infection. The time between the original exposure to the bacterium and the appearance of the first symptoms is known as the incubation period. For gonorrhea the incubation period is on average between 2 to 5 days. Some patients take as long as 30 days to develop any type of symptom. It is important to note that a gonorrhea infection might remain asymptomatic until the bacterium has spread to other parts of the body.
